【破产新闻】Osun’s 2018 Budget Indication of Incompetence, Bankruptcy, Says Omisore

January 8, 2018  By Yinka Kolawole  in Osogbo

A former Deputy Governor in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore,  has said the current state budget is not only an indication of incompetence and bankruptcy, but also a reflection of absolute lack of knowledge of public financing and appropriations process.

Omisore made the assertion through a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Jide Fatokun, and made available to journalists in Osogbo yesterday.

He said it was very sad that after eight years of the Rauf Aregbesola-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state, its leadership still whines in its incompetent game of blaming previous administration, a glaring sign of its inability to respond to the budget issues raised by Omisore and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

While enunciating his position on the recently passed budget,  he posited that in the last seven and half years, the APC has accrued colossal debts of N416 billion, dubious uncompleted projects of over N500billion, N119billion salaries and wages arrears of workers, retirees and pensioners, inflated airport and roads projects scam.

Omisore submitted that the state has itself accepted its inability to pay salaries, remains unaccountable for the Paris Club refund, yet it has the audacity to present a budget it can neither fund nor execute.

His words: “Our attention has again been drawn to the flapping hands of a government drowning in its own ineptitude.

“The examination of the feasibility and credibility of public sector budgets is a matter for everyone.

“The current Osun State budget is not only an indication of incompetence and bankruptcy, but also reflects absolute lack of knowledge of public financing and appropriations process.

Assuring the people of the state of a better economic recovery, he said: “We shall restore competent and visionary leadership that will take informed decisions to restore the state economy and public sector financing.”
